Cotton twill
Cotton Twill
This heavy cotton twill has diagonal weave on one side and a flat weave on the reverse, so can be used with either side as the front. The weight makes this fabric perfect for embroidery as the high opacity means you won't see threads trailing on the reverse and the tight weave can take delicate stitches.
The fabric is available in either 25 x 50 cm sections or 50 x 50 cm sections. The fabric weighs 270 gsm.
Cotton Plain
There are a couple of colours we stock in a cotton poplin rather than twill. These work just as well for embroidery but they are lighter weight so easier to pass a needle through than the cotton twill. The fabrics have a flat weave on both sides and are 160g/sm.
The fabric is available in either 25 x 45 cm sections or 45 x 50 cm sections.
Linen Plain
Linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics and has wonderful texture within the weave. It has a looser weave than cotton, therefore when doing embroidery on the lighter colours you may see some slight trailing of threads behind .
The fabric is available in either 25 x 45cm sections or 50 x 45 cm sections. This is 100% softened linen and 185gsm.
Linen Patterned
In addition to our range of plain coloured linens, we also stock a small selection of checked, patterned linens. Whilst stitching on patterned fabric can be harder to see the design, these checks all work well with some embroidery embelishment.
The fabric is available in either 25 x 45cm sections or 50 x 45 cm sections. This is 100% softened linen and 185gsm.

Aida
If you are interested in completing any cross stitch projects or creating your own sampler, then our 14 count Zweigart rustico aida is perfect. The grid size works wonderfully when stitched with 4 strands of our stranded cotton.
51% Cotton, 34% Rayon & 15% Linen, Zweigart Fabric. This fabric is produced from threads that have a rustic appearance.
Calico
Calico is one of our favorites for embroidering on. Whilst it is light, therefore there is a risk that you will see trailing threads through the back, it also means its very easy on your hands to stitch on.
Medium-weight cotton calico made from unbleached, unshrunk cotton, still containing cotton seeds. It is 165 g/sm and available in two sizes: 50cm x 50cm or 50cm x 100cm.
